Bluff Creek II Workday

Saturday, October 21st, 2017 - 9:00am CDT to Saturday, October 21st, 2017 - 12:00pm CDT

Saturday October 21st, 8:45am-noon

This month we will be returning to Bluff Creek to build on the successes of our past workdays and recent restoration efforts. Please note that the meeting location for this workday is different than the previous workday. We will be accessing a different part of the stream through temporary access on private land. Also, we will be starting this workday a little earlier than usual to make sure we make the most effective use of our time. This workday starts at 8:45am.

This work day will to continue to improve trout habitat in Bluff Creek at the first habitat restoration site near the headwaters of the stream. The work day will include removal of in-stream woody debris and nuisance plant growth, as well as shrub and tree removal along the streambank. These activities will restore the function and usability of the first Bluff Creek habitat restoration site, which has a proven history of high brown trout abundance and excellent size structure. Necessary gear includes chainsaws (and operators), loppers, work gloves, waders, steel rakes, etc.
We will meet at a private parking site off Highway 12, directly across from the Parker Road intersection (roughly W7491 Highway 12 in Whitewater). To clarify, this is a private driveway that is only authorized for DNR access or volunteers (on official workdays). Map link:

Public access is not permitted at this site.

Afterwards we will have our traditional brat fry lunch. Please RSVP to John Rennpferd at or (414) 745-8488
